SYCT Community consultation: April 27th 2024

Please come and join us at the community consultation at 'The Hut' In Streatham Vale park to voice your support for the need for the nursery to continue to operate.

Parents, guardians of the park, councillors and community members all agree that the much loved nursery is an asset to the community and to the park and that it is still desperately needed by the community.

We need voices from the community, voices from former and current parents (and future parents) and voices from business to strengthen our voice and our stance.

The Hut is currently closed and is providing no services except a 3 hour play and stay on a Monday, this is a travesty as previously this space had a busy day nursery and a buzzing after school and holiday provision. The afterschool and holiday provision has not taken place since September 2023 and the nursery was abruptly closed in March 2024 without warning.

The Save Sprigs Campaign group has evidence to believe that:

  • We have been lied to with regards to the real reason of the nursery closure as no financial deficit was revealed to parents or staff, even though this was cited as the reason why the nursery needed to close.
  • The nursery was shut abruptly without any staff, community or parent consultation.
  • SYCT are not engaging at all with the community and do not know/ do not want to listen to what the community, staff and parents want.
  • SYCT do not offer the provisions which they are commissioned for.

Please help us to spread the word and to encourage all community members to attend to support us to keep this vital community provision.
